the expertise of unique craftsmanship

Since 1840, the Maison Duvivier Canapés has been the only company to associate craftsmanship excellence and the richness of materials to design exceptional French products.

Maison Duvivier Canapés strives to perpetuate the know-how of couturiers-saddlers, saddle makers and saddler-upholsterers. They transmit this know-how to successive generations, thus preserving a production carried out entirely in France and recognized by the Label Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant. The talented people that strengthen the company’s workforce acquire expertise and values of excellence in their daily work by observation of the older generation and through repetition of precise gestures.

Traditional techniques have incorporated new technologies and have adapted to the manufacture of a contemporary product, which can be admired from every angle. The same level of attention is given to both the outside and the inside of each piece of furniture made by the Maison Duvivier Canapés.

Recognized know-how

Recognized know-how

Since 2006, the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (Living Heritage Company) label awarded by the French Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment has promoted and encouraged French culture and its know-how. It distinguishes French companies with extraordinary levels of craftsmanship and / or industrial know-how and gives them recognition. In 2006, this distinction was awarded to Maison Duvivier Canapés because of its rich history, its national and international reputation, its capacity for innovation, its rare expertise in the use of genuine, natural leather and its know-how in the manufacture of sofas and armchairs.

French FURNITURE manufacturing and a sustainable local presence

The company currently has two workshops located in Usson du Poitou, in the Vienne region, south of Poitiers.

The saddling where leather and  fabric work, and manufacturing of sofas are grouped together. The fifty experts share primarily the work of tracing, sewing and packing.

The carpentry workshop in which the chassis for the sofas, the wooden frames and elements and the complementary furniture are manufactured. The majority of the wood used comes from forests that are eco-managed under the FSC label.

In-depth attention to seated comfort

All the components of comfort have been studied to provide a unique level of comfort. Thus, the slope, depth and height of the seat, and the height of the backrest have been studied since the beginning by the Maison Duvivier Canapés, adding to the aesthetics of its models the commitment of durability and a 10-year guarantee.

To improve the comfort of its sofas and armchairs, the company has developed the SBD (dynamic bi-dynamic suspension) suspension system and filed the corresponding patent.
